Program Updates for BNL
Published: June 27, 2024

Overview

To further focus the BNL report results,  several programs were updated to fall within the “Youth Navigator” rules of the “literally homeless Projects” criteria.

We aligned the ODFC YHDP’s Youth Navigator program’s active BNL status with the active BNL status rule used for the CT BOS YHDP Youth Navigator programs. This change was made to ensure consistency in the active status inclusion criteria across all YHDP Youth Navigator programs. This alignment will help more accurately determine the number of youth experiencing literal homelessness or fleeing domestic violence.

Additionally, it will prevent confusion during FFC housing solutions meetings by ensuring that youth experiencing Category 2 homelessness are not added to the BNL and mistakenly matched to resources. This consistency also provides a statewide benefit, allowing for a more accurate comparison of FFC’s active BNL numbers and needs with those in other CAN regions.

Impact & Necessary Actions

Due to the effects of these changes, it’s recommended CANS and Youth projects review this release and update internal processes accordingly.
