HIC and PIT Trainings
Tuesday, October 7th
Registration Available
Dear Colleagues:
We will hold our first trainings for the annual counts of housing inventory and people who are unhoused on October 7th.
See below for a message from our partners at Nutmeg regarding upcoming Housing Inventory Count (HIC) and Point in Time (PIT) trainings. The HIC and PIT counts are our annual counts, required by HUD, of
- all beds and units (HIC) dedicated to serve people experiencing homelessness
- Includes emergency shelters, transitional housing, safe havens, rapid rehousing, permanent supportive housing and other permanent housing (e.g. emergency housing vouchers)
- the people experiencing sheltered and unsheltered homelessness (PIT) at a single point in time within the CoC.
- Sheltered homelessness consists of people staying in emergency shelters, transitional housing or safe havens
- Unsheltered homelessness involves people sleeping in places not meant for human habitation that Street Outreach Programs and Youth Navigator Programs would encounter
The PIT count will take place on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, but we will complete most of the HIC in October and November. The blue underlined text sections are hyperlinks to register for the trainings. Please make every effort to have the staff responsible for the counts attend the training(s).
The first round of trainings for the 2024-2025 Point-In-Time Bed Inventory and Person Count has been scheduled. The two training opportunities are below and will present HMIS program information followed by Non-HMIS participating program.

2).
