Update to HMIS Homeless Verification Tool: Transitional Housing Logic Excerpt
Published: May 1, 2026
Overview
The Homeless Verification Form (Simplified and Detailed Views) have been updated to modify the calculation of time homeless.
Detailed Changes
- Simplified View:
- Transitional Housing (TH) enrollments are now excluded from the homeless time calculations in both the Simplified and Detailed Views.
- The following help text has been added “Transitional housing episodes are excluded from this view. Those episodes are visible in the detailed view and qualify as category 1 homelessness for the purpose of establishing eligibility for RRH, TH, Joint TH/RRH, and SSO projects.”
- Detailed View:
- A Verification Type Start Date field has been added to the Detail View to help distinguish between multiple Current Living Situation Assessments entered for the same month.
- Transitional Housing (TH) enrollments will continue to display in the Detailed View for reference.
Impact & Necessary Actions
The exclusion of TH enrollments means that homeless time totals presented in the Simplified View may differ from previously generated reports.
