Governor Lamont Activates Connecticut’s Extreme Hot Weather Protocol To Help Ensure the Availability of Cooling Centers Over the Next Several Days

Due to forecasted high temperatures, Governor Ned Lamont has activated Connecticut’s Extreme Hot Weather Protocol from 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 14th, 2024, to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17th, 2024. This activation, the first of the year, responds to expected temperatures in the 90s and potentially above 100 degrees—the first occurrence of such heat in June since 1964.

The Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection (DESPP) will coordinate responses, including public alerts and monitoring, while towns provide cooling center details to United Way 211 for public access.

If you are seeking relief from the heat, you can locate your nearest cooling center by calling 2-1-1 or visiting 211ct.org.
