The annual Connecticut Point in Time (PIT) Count will take place on Tuesday night, January 26, 2027. The PIT count is an annual requirement by HUD to count all people experiencing homelessness.

To help providers and outreach staff prepare, please review the 2027 PIT FAQ.

Here is a summary of the most important dates to remember:

• HIC Training: October 6, 2026.

• HIC Confirmation Due Date: October 21, 2026.

• PIT Training: January 6, 2027.

• PIT Data Entry and Confirmation Due Date: February 2, 2027.

Key Preparation Steps for Providers:

• Ensure that all clients are actively enrolled in the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS).

• Ensure that clients who are no longer receiving services have an exit date recorded in HMIS.

• Street Outreach and Youth Navigator programs must see or speak with clients on the night of the count, or within 7 days after, to accurately verify where they slept on January 26, 2027.

• Outreach staff must complete a Current Living Assessment (CLA) in HMIS or Engage indicating where the person slept on the night of the count.

• Permanent housing programs, including Rapid Rehousing (RRH) and Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH), must ensure that client move-in dates are entered correctly.

• RRH programs must verify that their PIT numbers match their Housing Inventory Count (HIC) numbers exactly.
