The By Name List 2.8 has been released!
Published: December 8, 2023

Overview

This update to the By Name List, now at version 2.8, contains the following changes.

  1. Unaccompanied Minors are now excluded from the BNL.
For privacy purposes, minors with identifying data in a household with no adults in the enrollment have been removed from the BNL, . A new count has been added to the summary page to represent the removed client totals.
  2. A new column has been added to the BNL called “Transfer CAN”.  This column pulls from what was previously labeled the “Coordinated Access Network” field on the “Client Status on By Name List (BNL)” form which has now been renamed to “Transfer CAN”.
This change was initiated to better align the field with its intended use as a method to designate the CAN a client is being transferred to, while still being tracked or serviced by a different CAN they have a program enrollment in HMIS. This is different from “What is a household’s preferred community” which is collected at intake from a client and indicates their preference at time of entry.
In addition, guidance text has also been updated.
