HIC Updates & Required Provider Actions
Dear Colleagues:
Thank you to everyone who attended last week’s Point In Time (PIT) trainings. If you were unable to attend, the training recordings and slides are linked below.
PIT Count Date
Tuesday, January 27, 2026
We are now two weeks away from the PIT date.
Housing Inventory Count (HIC) – Action Needed if Changes Occurred
The HIC was largely completed last fall. Thank you for your work on this.
If your program has encountered significant changes, such as:
- Increases Emergency Shelter overflow or seasonal beds
- Reduced capacity due to construction, fire, or other issues
- A program opening early or unexpectedly
- A program that needs to be removed
What to do:
- Submit bed number changes directly in the PIT database, or
- Submit a Nutmeg help desk ticket to add or remove a program
Provider Action Steps – Complete Before and On PIT Night
Outreach & Warming Center Programs
- Exit anyone not seen in last 90 days
- Complete Current Living Situation assessments for each contact
Emergency, Seasonal, Overflow Shelter & Hotel/Motel Programs
- Shelters – ensure bed night check-ins are completed
- Hotel/Motel programs:
- Exit anone not contact in last 60 days
- On PIT night, complete Hotel/Motel service in HMIS for head of household
Transitional Housing & Safe Haven
- Confirm all active HMIS enrollments are accurate
- Exit clients no longer in the program
PSH, RRH and PH Programs
- Ensure move-in dates are completed for head of household in HMIS
- Exit clients no longer in the program
