HIC and PIT Trainings
Training Registration – Available Now
Tuesday, October 6th
PIT Date: 1/26/2027
Dear Colleagues,
As a follow up to last week’s announcement – training registration is now open – with links below. Our first trainings for the annual counts of housing inventory and people who are unhoused are on Tuesday, October 6th.
The HIC and PIT counts are annual counts, required by HUD, of
- all beds and units (HIC) dedicated to serve people experiencing homelessness
- Includes emergency shelters (including seasonal shelters), transitional housing, safe havens, rapid rehousing, permanent supportive housing and other permanent housing (e.g. emergency housing vouchers)
- the people experiencing sheltered and unsheltered homelessness (PIT) at a single point in time within the CoC.
- Sheltered homelessness – people staying in emergency shelters, transitional housing or safe havens
- Unsheltered homelessness – people sleeping in places not meant for human habitation that Street Outreach Programs and Youth Navigator Programs would encounter.
The PIT count will take place on Tuesday, January 26, 2027, but we will complete most of the HIC in October and November. The blue underlined text sections are hyperlinks to register for the trainings. Please make every effort to have the staff responsible for the counts attend the training(s).
Training Registration
The two training opportunities below are for staff who assist with counting and entering HIC and PIT data for both HMIS and Non-HMIS participating agencies. HMIS related topics will be covered at the beginning of the training and people with HMIS-only responsibilities can drop off.
